Inspiring Change
Tanglebloom quickly grew to encompass an acre of field and greenhouse flower production which supplied coveted blooms for weddings, events, and retail shops. Early on, the farm created the first flower CSA (community supported agriculture) program in Vermont. Melissa also taught workshops to beginner flower farmers and florists as well as the general public, in addition to establishing a popular internship program.
In 2017 Melissa received an Emerging Leader Award from the Southern Vermont Young Professionals.
Melissa and her husband Mike are widely known for their unique open-air sleeping cabin in the woods, Tanglebloom Tiny Cabin, after it appeared in Travel + Leisure, Forbes, Buzz Feed, and more. The vacation rental, available on Airbnb and Hipcamp, has been named one of Airbnb’s Most Wish Listed properties and a Hipcamp Property of the Year along with one of Airbnb’s Instagram Top 10 Most Liked photos.
Today the farm focus is on experiences and education, and growing flowers on a small scale. Sustainability-minded couples and planners covet the farm’s bulk flowers for do-it-yourself (DIY) weddings and events. Each summer, the farm hosts a series of pick-your-own peony events.
Tanglebloom is available for intimate events like dinner parties & small celebrations. Bouquets can also be purchased during seasonal pop-up events in the Brattleboro area.
With nearly a decade of full-time growing, designing, and educating under her tool belt, Melissa also works with other flower farmers, florists, and mission-minded business owners as a Certified Life and Business Coach.
