Consultations | FAQ
What is the cost, & what’s included?
Private consultations consist of a one-hour video chat session or phone meeting plus follow-up notes for $150. You will complete an informational form prior to our meeting so that we can make the best use of our time together. I typically spend about one hour reviewing your intake form and planning our meeting; then we’ll spend one hour together in session; and I’ll spend another hour creating a follow-up document with notes from our session.
This follow-up document will be sent to you via email within 5 business days of the consultation session and will include details like contacts, sources, links, and other details discussed during our meeting. This unique bonus allows you to focus on our session without the distraction of detailed note-taking.
How do I know if I’m a good fit for a consultation?
I’ll send you an intake form to complete where you tell me about your flower journey, goals, and questions. From here I’ll determine if we’re a good match. In rare cases I may deem you would be best helped by another industry professional, and I'll send you their contact info without hesitation. Please see my topics of expertise list here to see if I can help.
I’m not a farmer or a florist, but I want flowers to be a part of my life. Is this a situation you can help with?
Absolutely! In addition to gardening for over 20 years and farming for nearly a decade, I understand that not everyone wants to - or should - start a flower farm in order to enjoy flowers. We can explore the various avenues available from cutting gardens, wildflower meadows, to arranging with foraged and purchased blooms, to creating a flower meditation ritual or growing edible flowers. There are endless ways to live a flower-filled life without upending your current lifestyle.
I have a piece of land and I’m thinking about starting a flower farm. Can you help?
Definitely. We’ll look at everything from logistics to infrastructure to time and budget to determine the best use considering your resources and goals.
I’m located in a colder or warmer zone than you. Can you still give me growing advice?
Yes. I currently farm in USDA hardiness zone 5, which I often treat more like zone 4. For ten years I gardened and farmed in zone 6, and for several years in zone 9, and even briefly in tropical zone 11.
I’m a.. photographer/maker/stylist/creative/Airbnb host/hobbyist interested in growing and arranging flowers for my work.
I would love to help you create a cutting garden and become confident in basic floral arranging and styling to add value to your creative work or hobby! Generally I’ll recommend two sessions: one hour for cutting garden discussion and design, and a separate one-hour session (on another day) for learning to care for and arrange flowers.
What is your availability for consultation sessions?
I’ll work with you to come up with a mutually agreeable time for our session. Generally sessions take place Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM ET in the fall and winter, and between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM ET spring and summer. Evenings and Saturdays may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis. Consultations are offered year-round.
I’d love to visit your farm. Do you offer in-person consultations?
A limited number of private in-person consultations are available at our Vermont farm and studio between June and September. Please contact us for more information.
